Parrett and Axe Shine at Tag Rugby Tournament!
WOW is how I am starting this report.
On Saturday Theo (Captain), Charlie, Carter, Finley, Devon, Edward, Elijah,
Mantra, Arienne, Holly R, Miley and Ruby participated with alongside 12 other schools at the Tag Rugby Festival help at Bridport Rugby Club.
We were put into Group B and played 4 matches – each lasting 7 minutes - winning 3 out of the 4 matches played resulting in us getting through to the semi-finals.
We played against the winners of Group A (Broadwindsor) in the semi-finals. It really was a brilliant match with both teams being well matched against each other. At full time it was a draw so was taken to “sudden death”. Everyone’s heart rate increased watching the final few minutes and luckily for us Charlie Crate scored a try to take us into the final.
We knew the final was going to be tough as it was against the unbeatable St Catherines who have won the tournament for at least the last 5 years. All the children had the opportunity to play in the final – with a swap at half time enabling this. It was a brilliant game and each and every one of our players were a credit to the school and themselves.
The final result was 5:2 to St Catherines and we won a very well deserved second place and a lovely silver medal for each player.
I would like to say a massive well done to every child who took part – you were all absolutely amazing.
