Our Intent
At Parrett and Axe CE VA Primary school, we work tirelessly to ensure that, from the day they arrive to the day they leave, giving all pupils access to equitable classrooms; classrooms where pupils can all participate and be influential, and classrooms where pupils are encouraged and supported to develop a deep, connected and sustained understanding of the mathematics being explored. This reflects our approach to Mastery Maths. To achieve this, our efforts are focused on problem solving, reasoning and investigation-based learning through the use of concrete, pictorial and abstract approaches throughout the school.
We strive for all learners to have opportunities to be immersed in and engaged with meaningful mathematical activities which build on prior learning and understanding, focus on relational understanding and encourage persistence and resilience in all aspects of school life.
We aim for every pupil to leave with the necessary skills and confidence to independently apply deep mathematical understanding in a wide range of contexts which will enable them to make at least good progress at secondary school and beyond.
