Forest School Ethos
Forest School is an inspirational process that offers all learners regular opportunities to achieve and develop confidence and self esteem through hands on learning experiences in woodland or natural environment with trees. Through careful observations of the children the tasks and activities will be set with each individual in mind in order to progress them according to their own needs and interests. The children will be provided with opportunities to explore, find their own limitations, make sensible choices in relation to risk, in addition to developing practical skills such as tying knots, using tools and construction. Activities may be challenging but will be achievable which in turn raises their confidence and self-esteem.
12.12.19 – This term we have a lots of fun in Forest School. As you can see from the gallery below, we have been:
• Building dens to stay out of the rain
• Planting plants given to us by a parent
• Crafted items out of clay
• Used wood hand drills to make Christmas decorations
• Made fires and made popcorn and toasted marshmallows
• Used secateurs to trim some of the shrubs and cut holly for decoration
We are hoping to get a saw-horse so that our children can learn to saw.
We would also like to say a big thank you to the Log Store in Mosterton for providing logs and a lighting stick.
Since January 2019 our Year 1 children have made good use of our new Forest School. They have been den building, making a bug hotel, planting plants to attract bugs, learning how to use a peeler, gardening, making clay bugs and much much more. Take a look at the gallery below.
