Cross Country Brilliance

32 of our wonderful children took part in the first cross country event of this year at Beaminster Comprehensive. All children ran superbly and were awarded 5 cups, a shield plus many medals for their running. The ground was extremely wet and muddy but all children ran with great enthusiasm. It is always so lovely to see how our children
support each other by running alongside them and cheering each other on.

A special mention for all the children that have never participated before and to the parents who gave up their time to transport our children to this event. Thank you also to Mr and Mrs David who have been running training sessions for our pupils and to Mrs Karen Reeve who took the fabulous photographs you can see below.

Christmas Tree Decorating Success!

7.12.21

We were invited to take part a Christmas tree decorating competition at Beaminster St Mary’s Church. The School Council decided that we should have an overarching theme of presents this year, so each class made and decorated Christmas boxes. KS2 made geometry nets and KS1 used recycled materials. The judges declared us the winners and we have been given a financial contribution to school funds.

Funding for iPads

As with all rural schools, our budget at Parrett and Axe is tight and as a result investment in IT equipment is challenging and currently 5 classes, 140 children, share 16 ipads.

With the current restrictions for COVID and class bubbles the sharing of such equipment is limited between classes.

They are used to support all areas of childrens learning but are particularly needed to help with their reading and literacy at a time when volunteers are not allowed into school that have previously helped with reading.

We are therefore desperately in need of funding to purchase additional iPad for each class and appreciate any support that can be given.
