Dear Parents
Welcome back to another busy academic year! I am delighted to be able to write my first newsletter as the new Head teacher of Parrett and Axe Church of England Primary School. All the staff and children have made me feel very welcome and I feel privileged to be joining your school community. Being a father myself, I am very much aware of the responsibility that my staff and I have in ensuring that the highest standard of teaching and learning is evident in all areas. A very warm welcome to Miss Humphries and to all of our new children and families-we hope that you enjoy your first year with us.

Answer machine
We now have an answering service for times when the office is not manned – usually before 8:00am and after 3:30pm – please leave a clear message especially if you require us to call you back.  You are welcome to report absences by leaving a clear message including your child’s name, class and reason for absence.  All sickness absences should be reported on the first day and then a follow up call each day that the child still cannot attend school.  You are also able to report absence by email to  Thank you for your assistance.

Newsletter Distribution
Each child should have received a hard copy of this first newsletter.  If we hold an email address for your family, you should also receive the newsletter by email.  In future all newsletters, letters and interim news items will be ONLY sent by EMAIL unless we have notification that the newsletter cannot be received by email.  Your assistance will help to reduce our printing and paper costs.

You are welcome to request hard copies of letters with reply slips if you are unable to print them yourself.  If you did not receive an email this time, please check your junk folder and that the school office has a valid email address for you – thank you for your cooperation.
Please note that the diary dates are updated weekly and are available on the school website here:
Forms and letters are also available to download from here:

Hot School Meals
The website for ordering meals can be found at where you must register before payment can be accepted.  You only have to register once; thereafter please use your login details.  You can place your order at any time up until the cut off time of midnight on Sunday – 7 days before the full week in which the meal is to be served.
When you register your children on the system, please can we ask that you allocate them to the relevant class as below so that their order will appear on the correct list in school:

Corfe              Chesil              Kimmeridge                Durdle Door               Lulworth

Also all Corfe and Chesil children are entitled to free school meals; when you register for the first time, tick the checkbox to apply for eligibility for free school meals.  You will need to wait for a confirmation email from Chartwells before you can place the first order and not be charged for the meals.  You will find the link to online ordering on the school website here: under the Hot School Meals section.  There is also a user guide available for you to download.
